Marriage and PregnancyAttracting Mr. Right
"By believing passionately in something that still does not exist, we create it. The nonexistent is whatever we have not sufficiently desired."
About ten years ago, I was rummaging through a consignment shop in search of a great treasure when I stumbled upon what I thought was a rather incredulous book title. It read, "Use the power of your imagination to create what you want in your life." Despite the initial disbelief I experienced when I read it, something prompted me to shell out fifty-cents and purchase Shakti Gawain"s book, Creative Visualization anyway.
After devouring every page in just a few short hours, I realized that I had within me this amazing magnetic power that would allow me to attract whatever my heart desired. And it only got better. In addition to having a strong belief that obtaining my goal was possible, all I needed to do in order to "attract" was to be able to see myself already having, being or doing WHATEVER I wanted!
Bursting with excitement and the feeling of just having discovered magic, I quickly began putting together what Shakti refers to as a "treasure map". A treasure map is an actual physical picture of your desired reality which can be created simply by drawing or painting it, or by making a collage using pictures and words cut from magazines, books, cards, photographs, lettering or drawing. I focused my time and attention on making individual maps for things such as a thriving business, a flashy sports car, a house of my own, a new wardrobe, exotic vacations "and even a dog! Amazingly, I attracted all of these things "and more! However, it wasn"t until I went thorough an absolutely heart wrenching break up with an oh-so "Mr. Wrong" that I was motivated to try my hand at a treasure map in an attempt to attract the man of my dreams. After some time spent thinking about the type of man I wanted to draw into my life and the kind of relationship I wanted to be in, I began clipping pictures of happy couples from magazines and began putting together a "snapshot" collage of what my ideal mate and relationship looked like. When it was completed, I simply took a few minutes everyday to think about and visualize myself in this scenario.
Lo and behold four months later on the morning of my 33rd birthday, Mr. Right appeared at my office bearing a bouquet of flowers and an invitation to have dinner with him. Five days before my 35th birthday, I married an extremely handsome, blond haired, blue-eyed man six years my junior, who cooks, cleans, and does laundry. This was much more than I had imagined on my treasure map and clearly something BETTER. I now jokingly refer to my husband as the fifty-cent treasure I found in a consignment shop!
Ready to attract YOUR Mr. Right? Follow these easy and effective guidelines for creating a relationship treasure map:
8 Steps to creating a "Treasure Map" to attracting Mr. Right
1. Create a Treasure map for a single goal or area of your life, so that you can be sure to include all the elements without getting too complicated. This enables the mind to focus on it more clearly and easily than if you include all your goals on one treasure map. You might want to do one map for your relationships, one for your career/business, one for your spiritual growth and so on.
2. You can make is any size that"s convenient for you. You may want to keep it in your notebook, hang it on your wall, or carry it around in your pocket or purse. I usually make mine on light cardboard which hold up better than paper.
3. It is important to include yourself in the picture. For a very realistic effect, use a photograph of yourself. Otherwise draw yourself in. Show yourself being, doing, or having your desired objective --traveling around the world, launching your own business, proud author of your new book, etc.
4. Show the situation in its ideal, complete form, as if it already exists. You don"t need to indicate how it"s going to come about. This is the finished product. Don"t show anything negative or undesirable.
5. Use lots of color in your treasure map to increase the power and impact on your consciousness.
6. Show yourself in a real setting; make it look believable to yourself.
7. Include some symbol of the infinite which has meaning and power for you. It could be an "ohm" sign, a Cross, Christ, a Buddha, a sun radiating light or anything that represents universal intelligence or God. This is an acknowledgment and a reminder that everything comes from the infinite source.
8. Put affirmations on your treasure map. For example, "Here I am spending time with my boyfriend/husband enjoying a quiet dinner". Be sure to include also the cosmic affirmation: "This or something better now manifests for me in totally satisfying and harmonious ways for all concerned." The power is in the process of creating your treasure map. Now all you have to do is spend a few minutes each day quietly looking at it, and every once in a while throughout the day give it a thought. That is all that is necessary!
